Planning a wine-tasting trip to France is not difficult but you will need a car in order to get around. The highway system is easy but keep in mind there are a lot of tolls. I plan 1-2 days in each region in addition to a day in Paris. In addition to Paris, I recommend a stay in Nantes when in the western Loire Valley. It's a small yet progressive city with a great art and restaurant scene. I recommend a visit to La Comédie des Vins for a fun wine bar because they focus entirely on wines from the Loire.
My favorite time to visit France is in the Spring because everything is in bloom. Summer is less touristy but it gets very hot and not many buildings have air conditioning.
